WANNA CRY

By now everyone has heard of the Wanna Cry ransom ware that hit this weekend. What does this mean for you and your company? As of right now nothing, the only way to prevent this is to make sure that your network is set up with the proper VLANS so that if something does get into your network it will not spread. Also we suggest that you have send out an email warning all of your employees about this ransom ware and have a SOP in place to address any issues that may arise.

While this specific version is currently not a threat, the tech world is ready for the next wave to attack from copy cats with an updated version of the first form. The original managed to shut down several banks, government agency’s and banks. We also suggest that you have either a offsite back up or a back up that is not connected to your network. This is the only way to insure that you have a backup that will not get infected from this ransom ware. We will keep providing updates to this ransom ware as we hear more. Luckily no on in the Charlotte, Maiden and local area reported experiencing this ransom ware.
